Welcome to the Somerset Hedge Group

Somerset is renowned for its beautiful and diverse network of hedgerows and field boundaries, from the upland beech hedges of Exmoor, Blackdown Hills and Quantock Hills to the ancient, species-rich hedges of central Somerset and up to the stone walls and hedgerows of the Mendip Hills. Our mission is to protect and enhance this vital part of our landscape, ensuring that these natural habitats continue to thrive for generations to come.

About Us

The Somerset Hedge Group was founded in 1997 to bring together individuals and organisations dedicated to the conservation and management of hedgerows. Today, we work closely with a variety of partner organisations, including farming groups, national parks, and hedge associations. Together, we promote good practice in hedge management and raise awareness about the importance of hedgerows to both farming and non-farming communities.
